PROGRAM SEEKS CANDIDATES

The first United Methodist Church of Los Gatos is establishing The Parish Nurse Program thanks to a grant awarded by the Beulah Older Adult Committee, part of the United Methodist Women California/Nevada Conference.

The program will complement the services now being offered by the Live Oak Adult Day Care and Live Oak Senior Nutrition Center, both located at the First United Methodist Church. Approximately 400 older adults with low to moderate incomes will ultimately be served through the new program, which will include health education classes, health screenings, home assessments, spiritual counseling, support groups and community advocacy for older adults.

The Parish Nurse program will help expand the work of the church's 2-year-old Health Ministries Committee. Volunteers are currently being recruited, and a registered nurse with community health experience is also being sought. Those interested may call Rebecca Herr at 354-4730.
