Trumpets and organ to sound at St. Luke's

An afternoon concert blending classic and contemporary pieces takes place Feb. 20 at 4 p.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 20 University Ave.

Performers are Paul Klemme on the organ and trumpeters Gerald Webster and André Dubelsten. All three are from the greater Portland area in Oregon. Klemme, formerly on the faculty of Washington State University, is now the organist and choirmaster of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Salem as well as the director of the Male Ensemble Willamette and the Willamette Master Chorus, both based at Willamette University.

Webster also taught at WSU for many years before his current job as professor of trumpet at Portland State University. His concerts have taken him to Europe, Russia and throughout the United States. He has also authored several articles about trumpet-playing and co-written with Klemme several editions of music for organ and trumpet.

Dubelsten is a 14-year-old student at Portland's Tualatin High School. He has already won the Junior Division of the National Trumpet Competition, has played with the Disney Youth Orchestra and has soloed with the Portland Festival Orchestra and the Seattle Eastside Symphony.

Everyone is welcome to attend. For more information, call 408.354.2195.
