Christopher Hollis, 27, from San Jose was arrested and booked Feb. 8 for two counts of residential burglary, possession of a loaded and concealed weapon, and possession of stolen property by the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department.
Sgt. Michael Barbieri said they believe Hollis is responsible for two interrupted burglaries that night, plus a burglary in San Jose and possibly one in Saratoga.
Officers responded to two interrupted burglaries on Feb. 8 in Los Gatos that were similar in nature, Barbieri said. The first one occurred at 5:55 p.m. on Bayview Avenue.
A neighbor called to report hearing a loud bang and then the sound of a burglar alarm going off. In this incident, the bang was the sound of a sliding glass door being shot out by the suspect. Jewelry and other items were taken before the suspect fled through the broken window, Barbieri said.
Neighbors saw the suspect leave the residence and chased him to the area of Broadway and Clifton Avenue before they lost him. Officers set up a perimeter in the neighborhood but did not locate the suspect.
Later in the evening, at 8:16 p.m., police received another call of a burglary in progress, this time from a residence on Broadway. A resident heard noises in her bathroom and when she went to investigate, she saw a man matching Hollis' description in the bathroom. The suspect had entered through a bathroom window and fled by foot before taking any items, Barbieri said.
Police set up another perimeter in the neighborhood. At 8:27 p.m., a man matching Hollis' description ran past Officer Layne Davis who was standing in a darkened area. Jewelry and other stolen property from the Bayview Avenue burglary were found on Hollis when he was arrested. Police also found a loaded .22 pistol in Hollis' waistband that they believe was stolen from a home in San Jose, Barbieri said.
Hollis was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail and is awaiting a trial date.
The investigation is ongoing, Barbieri said. Those with any additional information can call the LG-MSPD at 354-8600.
