Depending on whether Valentine's Day was the zenith or nadir of February, the Prowler's readers may be sad or glad this short month is already more than half over. With it go the remnants of winter, as spring springs in March. Before that happens, check out the following fun stuff closer at hand--or paw, as the case may be.
Artist and longtime Los Gatan Rosalie Lang is exhibiting a series of oil paintings through the end of the month at the Los Gatos Company, 17 1/2 N. Santa Cruz Ave. The works focus on passageways of different types. The majority are gates, including those connected to fences, built into rock walls and adorned by iron work. While prowling around the Company, this cat learned many of Lang's paintings are based on places she saw while traveling in Arizona, New Mexico, Mexico, the Caribbean and France.
Travel was also inspirational for writer Jane Bay, who although not local, will be in Cat Town Feb. 18 at 7:30 p.m. for a talk and book-signing at Borders Books, Music & Cafe in Old Town. Bay authored Precious Jewels of Tibet: A Journey to the Roof of the World. The memoir also includes stops in India and Nepal.
