    New signs for Lark Avenue

New "no left turn" signs will be placed at the intersection of Lark Avenue and Highland Oaks Drive by Feb. 20. The signs will be effective on weekdays from 3 to 6 p.m.

According to the Los Gatos Parks and Public Works Department, the restriction will improve traffic safety, as indicated by a recent traffic study. Los Gatos-Monte Sereno police will enforce the regulation.

Those with questions, contact the parks and public works department at 408.399.5770 or traffic@town.losgatos.ca.us.

Rowing event set on Feb. 24

On Feb. 24, the Los Gatos Rowing Club will hold a fundraiser to assist high school athletes. The 7th Annual Row-A-Thon will take place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Los Gatos Town Plaza. Teams of rowers will use rowing machines to "travel" the distance from Los Gatos to Portland, Ore. The club aims to raise $50,000 to purchase women's rowing equipment for its younger members, who come from schools all over the area, including Los Gatos and Leigh high schools.

Last year, the event snagged $45,000, which was used for equipment, boats and scholarships. For more information, contact Nancy Minor at 408.356.9314.

    League's voter info is online

To prepare for the upcoming elections, the League of Women Voters of California has set up a website, smartvoter.org, with information on the issues and candidates in the election.

Voters can look up customized information by county, by ZIP code or by party affiliation.
