Composer and percussionist Lukas Ligeti will perform at a free concert Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. in the Carriage House at Villa Montalvo. Composer Pamela Z will perform with Ligeti at this event.
Ligeti, a current artist in residence at Montalvo, was born in Vienna, Austria, lived in the Bay Area for a while and how makes his home in New York City. He has been a member of several musical groups and has had many of his compositions performed internationally, including The Chinese Wall and Groove Magic. Most recently, he was a visiting scholar at the Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics at Stanford University. Ligeti's residency at Montalvo is co-sponsored by the Arts Council of Santa Clara County's Artist Fellowship Program. It is the first in a series of co-sponsored residencies with the Arts Council and will be continued in September with the residency of Literary Arts Artist Fellowship recipient Truong Tran.
Pamela Z has performed as a singer and electronic musician throughout the United States since 1984. She has performed at Lincoln Center and recently returned from a tour in Japan. She has also created scores for dance works and done sound design and composition for film and video.
