Good Sam trustees name new chairman

Good Samaritan Charitable Trust named a new chairman to its board of trustees, the board announced Feb. 11.

Dave Henderson, formerly vice chairman of the board, stepped up into the role of chairman. Steve Caplan , owner of KBM Office Furniture of San Jose, is the board's new vice chairman.

Meanwhile, former chairman Brad Smith will remain a trustee.

The Good Samaritan Charitable Trust was formed as a result of the Good Samaritan Health System's selling most of its assets to Columbia/HCA. The proceeds of that sale created a charitable endowment initially estimated at $56 million, which would provide charitable contributions of up to $3 million annually to nonprofit community health programs.
