Council has packed agenda on March 4
At the March 4 Los Gatos Town Council meeting, the public is invited to speak on two significant applications: the Habitat for Humanity house proposed on Charles Street, and Greenbriar Development's 14-home subdivision on Hicks and Shannon roads.
The town's planning commission previously approved the 1,200-square-foot Habitat for Humanity project but it was appealed to the town council. The planning commissioner also recommended that the council approve Greenbriar's application to build more units than what's allowable by the current zoning.
The town council meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the Town Council Chambers, 110 E. Main St.
Skatepark comes before county again
After deciding to postpone a hearing until visiting Vasona Lake County Park, the Santa Clara County Parks and Recreation Commissioners will hear Los Gatos' proposal to build a skatepark at Vasona for the second time. On March 6, commissioners are expected to make a recommendation to the county board of supervisors.
The public is encouraged to speak on the proposal at the meeting, starting at 7 p.m. in the County Government Center, at 70 W. Hedding St. in San Jose. For more information, call 408.299.2323 or 408.359.3741, ext. 131.
Volunteers are needed for child abuse prevention
The Child Abuse Prevention Center in Redwood City, which serves Santa Clara and San Mateo counties, is looking for volunteers to work in its case aide program. Volunteers will assist children and their foster families by helping social workers.
The center is also looking for volunteers to become part of its speaker's bureau. Speakers give presentations to children on abuse prevention and personal safety.
Training classes will be held March 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in San Jose. All volunteers will be fingerprinted and have their licenses screened. For more information, call 408.441.5198.
