Los Gatos Library friends will be hosting string quartet

The Friends of the Los Gatos Public Library invite the community to attend its Friday Forum program on March 2, at 7 p.m. in the library, at 110 E. Main St. in the Los Gatos Civic Center. There is no charge to attend, and light refreshments will be served. The Friends welcomes new or prospective members, at any time.

This month, the forum takes on a musical note with the presence of Diane Egli and her string quintet, called the Chancel Strings. Egli is a Los Gatos Suzuki violin teacher who instructs several dozen students each week.

The Chancel Strings comprise Susan Flatness and Carolyn Lowenthal on violins, Bony Linnel on viola and Garth Barber on cello. The group was formed in 1995 and performs at various community events, nursing homes and churches, including the Los Gatos Presbyterian Church, from which they are based. Its repertoire runs the gamut from classical to pop.
