THE PROWLER

Congratulations to Los Gatan Brian Coleman, who won a chance to be in a Jeopardy! studio audience by playing KFOG's (97.7 FM) "My Three Songs" game last week.

Following the game's usual format, Coleman had to give the title and artist of each of the three songs that had just been played and explain their connecting theme. But in the spirit of the prize being sought, the DJ made Coleman give his answers in the form of a question.

Coleman got a tad overzealous: When the DJ asked him who he was and where he was from, he replied, "Who is Brian Coleman? Where is Los Gatos?" And when the DJ told him he had qualified for the "Jeopardy" tickets, Coleman said, "What is 'Thank you'?"

Too bad this contest wasn't held a few months ago: Coleman could have been in the audience to cheer on Allen Rudolph when the LGHS teacher made his appearance on the game show.

In other commuting news, the Prowler was driving down N. Santa Cruz and spotted a van sporting a bumper sticker that read, "My child was inmate of the month at Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall." Somebody out there must know: Does our county's correctional system actually recognize its more accomplished, well-mannered young inmates, or is this just someone's warped take on the "student of the month" bumper-sticker craze?

If this cat had a bumper sticker, it would read, "Mate's taxi service." The Prowler's favorite ranger fell down and went boom while patrolling the county's motorcycle park. The leg that got caught under the bike is much better now, thank you, but for a while, this cat knew what parents of unlicensed children go through: Drop 'em off, pick 'em up, drop 'em off again and try to wedge in your own activities between pit stops. Road-weary moms and dads should adopt that Army slogan, "We do more before lunch than most people do in a day."
