Wisdom of the Ages
Lexington School initiated an intergenerational program last week when five senior citizens from Dominican Oaks Retirement Community in Santa Cruz traveled over Highway 17 on Feb. 24 to work as classroom aides at Lexington School. The day marked the start of Lexington School's grandparent program, which will bring seniors and children together in the classroom every two weeks. Principal Raf Strudley hopes to have a grandparent for every classroom by next year. And when Strudley started recruiting, he started close to home. That's his father, Charles Strudley, entertaining Sally Bailey's first-grade class on the program's first day.
