Special Olympics

Track and field practice begins for the Special Olympics Santa Clara County program, and the organization is looking for volunteers for the spring program. A volunteer orientation session will be held on March 10, 7 p.m., at the Special Olympics office, 5730 Chambertin Drive, San Jose. For more information, call 267-2734.

Roller Hockey

Spring roller hockey leagues will begin in March for youngsters through high school age, hosted by the city of San Jose.

Youth league play begins March 14. The cost per player is $40 for the six-game season, and lessons are also available.

High school roller hockey competition begins March 24. The cost is $400 per team for the six-game season plus playoffs.

RT Spring League

The annual RT Spring League basketball program, that features games, clinics, contests and tournament, will hold signups and mandatory orientation sessions every Sunday, 3 p.m. or 5 p.m., through March 13 at Del Mar.

The league is open to players in grades 3-12. For more information, call Raymond Townsend at 879-0272 or Steve Wolford at 275-1750. Players in Los Gatos should call Jim Marino at 927-0896.

Nothing But Net

Bud Ogden's Nothing But Net instructional basketball league spring season begins March 21 at West Valley Community College in Saratoga.

The league is open to boys and girls in grades 3-11, and games are played on Saturdays and Sundays at West Valley.
