Los Gatos Weekly-TimesRobbers brandish weapons in a Los Gatos bank holdupBy Shari Kaplan Saratoga National Bank, located at 15405 Los Gatos Blvd., fell prey Feb. 27 to a pair of armed robbers who are still on the loose. At approximately 9:30 a.m., according to Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Sgt. Michael Barbieri, two men wearing black ski masks entered the bank. They both brandished handguns for employees and customers to see. One suspect jumped the counter, according to witnesses, and approached a teller whom he told to open the money drawer. The teller complied, after which time the suspect jumped back over the counter to join his partner. After putting an undisclosed amount of money in a sack, the suspects--whom one employee described as "somewhat polite"--exited through the bank's front doors and left on foot. No one was injured in the incident, and no one saw a getaway car. According to witnesses, both suspects were wearing black jackets and blue jeans, along with their ski masks. Both appeared to be in their mid-20s. One suspect, whose race is unknown, is described as being 5 feet, 9 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall with a medium build. The other man is described as black, 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 170 pounds. Police detectives are currently pursuing leads in this case and request anyone with more information to call the investigations bureau at 354-6825.
