The Prowler

In a continuing quest to dispel the notion that cats are antisocial creatures, the Prowler is eager to share some more cool upcoming events.

This cat-about-town has just the thing for musical theater buffs--Fame! This lyrical version of what some people know as a TV show takes place March 27-29 and April 2-4 at Los Gatos High School.

The Prowler thinks this is a good production for high school students, as the plot revolves around a group of talented teens attending New York City's High School for the Performing Arts. As usual, Diana Pleasant is the show's musical director. For info on times and prices, call 354-2730 ext. 240.

For music without acting, this feline recommends the latest concert in the 50th anniversary series of the Los Gatos-Saratoga Community Concert Association. At 2:30 p.m. on March 29, traditional Scottish balladeer Carl Peterson sings, plays guitar and tells stories. Although he grew up in Bonnie Scotland, Peterson includes Irish, English and American favorites in his repertoire. Rumor has it a bagpiper will open the afternoon. For ticket info, call 377-1106 or 356-7268.

Speaking of dual-city organizations, the Prowler hears the Los Gatos- Saratoga branch of the American Association of University Women is holding Tulip Time Tea, its 10th annual English tea and silent auction, on March 28 at Sacred Heart Church in Saratoga. Doors open at 1 p.m. for the auction, with tea at 2 p.m. The touring group "The Neighborhood Kids" entertains. Proceeds benefit the Georgia Travis Day Center and the San Jose Family Shelter Women's Program. Call 867-0108 or 867-0902 for info.
