The Prowler

    Chamber group at The Terraces

The Soirée Musicale, a Bay Area chamber music group, presents a free concert at 7:45 p.m. on March 26 at The Terraces of Los Gatos, 800 Blossom Hill Road.

The program features familiar, as well as obscure works. Among the works are the String Trio Op. 9 No. 1 by Beethoven and the 1926 Trio for Strings by French composer Jean Cras; both will be played by violinists Cheryl Luan and John Wells and cellist Arlene Lee. The Shepherd's Song Trio, made up of soprano Susan Lynn Leider, clarinetist Charlotte McManus and pianist Kai Chi Zhu, will present an array of chamber musical pieces by composers from the 17th through 20th centuries.

The evening's performers are all active musicians who have played or are currently playing in various Bay Area chamber ensembles and orchestras. The Soirée Musicale, founded in 1975, is dedicated to promoting chamber music and offers free bimonthly concerts in various Bay Area cities.

A reception follows the concert. Those attending are asked to bring either a finger food, a non-alcoholic beverage or a donation to help pay for refreshments. All are welcome, including families with children. For more information, call 356-1006.
