Mailbox thieves hit mountains
Residents living in the rural Los Gatos Mountain area should check their bank and credit card statements for discrepancies, officials with the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office said.
Possibly several suspects have been stealing credit cards and bank statements from resident's mailboxes in the rural and unincorporated mountain area of Los Gatos, Sgt. John Hirokawa with the Sheriff's Office said. The suspects have then been using the cards and card numbers to buy clothes, automobile equipment, construction equipment and meals at expensive restaurants--with most incidents occurring during December and January.
While Hirokawa said the Sheriff's Office does have suspects, the department needs to talk with more victims to build a case.
Those with additional information or residents who think they may have been victims can call Detective Robert Garcia at 299-2211.
