    Fritsch homers, but Cats lose

Virginia Fritsch blasted a home run, but the Los Gatos girls softball team lost a tough 5-4 decision to Los Altos last week.

Fritsch singled and homered for the Wildcats and Melissa Mullins ripped a double to lead the offensive attack for Gatos.

Los Altos jumped out to a 3-0 lead with two runs in the first and one in the third, but the Cats battled back with two in the fourth. Los Altos scored in the fifth, but Gatos scored two in the top of the sixth to tie it 4-4. The Eagles broke the tie, though, with a run in the home half of the inning, and that turned out to be the game winner.

The Cats will try to get back on the winning track this week when they visit Wilcox on March 27 and host Mountain View on March 29 in a pair of 3:30 p.m. games.
