In case anyone doesn't know the definition of eclectic, just take a look at all these cool creative events!

Among the many treats this cat is looking forward to in April is the annual Open Juried Art Show, presented by the Los Gatos Art Association and Museum Association at the Los Gatos Museum of Art and Natural Science at 4 Tait Ave. This year's juror is watercolorist Lian Quan Zhen. Art includes oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings, pastel and pencil drawings, photography and three-dimensional art. Speaking of treats, there's a reception on April 8, at 1 p.m. Call 408.354.2646 for more info.

One of the LGAA's members, oil painter Jean Bonnette, is also one of two featured artists for April at Gallery Saratoga, 14531 Big Basin Way. Her paintings reflect her world travels and diverse interests. Joining her is Joy Butler, who creates unusual glassware, ceramics and jewelry using many different firing techniques. The gallery is open Tuesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Speaking of that neck of the woods, the Santa Clara Valley Carvers Guild holds its 34th annual wood-carving show on April 7 and 8, in the Prospect High School gym, 18900 Prospect Road in Saratoga. The guild consists of around 100 members who range from beginners to lifelong woodcarvers. Call 408.265.7045 or 408.734.0860.

The California Youth Symphony is gearing up for auditions for its 10 ensembles this spring: the orchestra, associate orchestra, two string preparatory groups, two wind and brass preparatory groups, and special ensembles for flutes, percussion and brass. Call 650.325.6666.
