Frymer to speak at Friday Forum

The Friends of the Los Gatos Public Library invite the community to attend its Friday Forum on April 12 at 7 p.m. in the Los Gatos Town Council Chambers, 110 E. Main St., in the civic center complex.

The guest speaker is Murry Frymer of San Jose, who worked for the San Jose Mercury News for 20 years as a theater writer and humor columnist. The first edition of his first book, They're Coming for My Mattress, a compilation of his favorite columns, has already sold out.

Frymer, married and a father of three, left the newspaper in 1999 to become a founding partner and writer for TheColumnists.com, a web magazine operated as a writers' cooperative. He also writes a monthly column for San Jose Magazine and is the author and lyricist of Four by Night, an off-Broadway musical.

At the Friday Forum, Frymer will talk about his life, career, perspectives and inspirations. "His warm and unique take on life will be in evidence," promises library Friend Martha Alderson, a writer herself. "As witness, this quip about libraries: 'Libraries are to writers what stadiums are to athletes. Unfortunately, the latter get larger crowds.'"

There is no charge for the program, and light refreshments will be served. The Friends welcome new or prospective members at any time.
