    Softball Reunion

    A 20-year reunion for softball players who played in the Los Gatos adult league in 1982, when play moved to the new diamond on the lower field at Los Gatos High School, will be held on April 6, 11 a.m. Players can take a few swings and share some old stories as they toss the ball around on the now 20-year-old facility.

    Bell wins award

    Bellarmine senior wrestler Nick Crane was presented the Billy Smitt Award as the team's outstanding scholar athlete. Crane, a team captain for the Bells, won a West Catholic Athletic League title at 145 pounds and went on to finish third in the Central Coast Section tournament.

    Special Olympics

    Special Olympics officials are looking for coaches for the spring season. Athletes are currently training for tennis, aquatics, golf and bocce ball.

    Interested volunteers are encouraged to attend an orientation on April 9, 7 p.m., at the Old Almaden Mountain Winery Community Center. For directions or more information, call 408.392.0170 or visit www.sonc.org/sccso.

    Great Race

    The annual Great Race, a 4-mile race to Los Gatos, will return to Saratoga on April 7.

    More than 2,500 participants are expected for the event, which will wrap up with festivities in downtown Los Gatos. The race is sponsored by the Los Gatos Rotary Club.

    The preregistration fee of $25 includes a T-shirt. Registration forms are available in Los Gatos at Runners Factory, 51 University Ave., and at Athletic Performance, 55 W. Main St. Register online at www.losgatosrotary.org or call 408.980.7233 for more information.

    Race day registration begins at 7 a.m. and the cost is $30, including a race T-shirt. The race begins at 9 a.m. at Big Basin Way and 3rd Street.

    LL Sponsors

    The Los Gatos Little League is looking for team sponsors for the 2002 season. The league fields teams for nearly 800 boys and girls in the town, from T-ball through major divisions. Sponsorship fees are $150 for T-ball, $250 for minor division and $500 for major division. For more information, call Mark Carlquist at 408.354.1955.
