Singer and trumpeter perform at St. Luke's
Wardrip, Harvey to appear in April 7 concert
Soprano Michelle Wardrip and trumpeter William Harvey will perform in the Evensong concert April 7 at 4 p.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 20 University Ave. The principal part of the program is Cantata #51, Jauchzett Gott, by Johann Sebastian Bach.
Evensong is an Episcopal tradition that consists of the evening prayer service set to music and song. At St. Luke's, each month's featured concert begins after the service concludes.
Wardrip holds bachelor's and master's degrees in music education from Western Oregon University. She has performed in many musical theater productions as well as operas at the college and professional levels. When not on stage, Wardrip is an active recitalist, a music teacher in the Salem-Keizer School District and a section leader for St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Salem, Ore. She is a past president of the Salem Consortium of Vocal Artists and the fifth international vice president of Mu Phi Epsilon, an international music fraternity.
Harvey serves as the principal trumpeter of Opera San Jose and the Western Opera Theater; he is also a member of the Modesto Symphony Orchestra. His past credits include performances with the Epic Brass Quintet, the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra, the Spoleto Festival Orchestra, the Sarasota Opera Orchestra and the Chautauqua Festival Orchestra. A native of Berkeley, he is a graduate of San Francisco State University and Boston University.
