Community pitches in for LGHS baseball facility
The Friends of Wildcat Baseball solicit donations of money, materials for improvements
|
Ron Denevi and other parents of Los Gatos baseball players didn't want the condition of the high school's facility to hold their children back. So Denevi resurrected Friends of Wildcat Baseball, a booster organization from the 1980s. They re-seeded the grass, rebuilt the mound, put in a new home plate, worked in the outfield and replaced much of the fencing. But that was only the beginning. Since the new Friends of Wildcat Baseball organization was formed, Denevi figures, well over $300,000 in money and materials have been donated to improve the facility. A most recent addition to the complex is a professional-style, 27-foot-long scoreboard that was installed March 27 just behind the fence in right-center field.
