Armand Charlesbois
Armand Charlesbois, known to his friends as a "town bon vivant," died of a heart attack on March 4. He was 75.
Born May 10, 1926, Charlesbois worked for many years in the local restaurant industry, including at Gardino's, Valeriano's and the former Il Nido. He was known for his hearty laugh, quick smile and warm personality.
Friends are invited to toast his memory on April 13, beginning at 4 p.m., at Mountain Charley's, 15 N. Santa Cruz Ave.
Eleanor Mattiuz
Longtime Los Gatos resident Eleanor Persello Mattiuz died suddenly on March 30 at the age of 87.
Born Oct. 8, 1914, in Creighton Mines, Canada, Mattiuz lived in Michigan before moving to Los Gatos. She and her husband, Antonio "Tony" Mattiuz, decided it was the ideal town in which to raise their children. Family was the focal point of her life. The Mattuizes were married 52 years.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Toni and Carroll Blackstock and Sally and Mario Paolini, all of Los Gatos; grandchildren Mike, Andy and Bill Miller, Julie Miller Hollenback, Adrienne McGrath and Paul Paolini; great-grandchildren Hunter, Mitchell, Alexis, Daniel, Austin, Megan, Sarah, Anthony, Anna Marie, Ty and Garrett; sisters Lucy Persello of Los Gatos and Velia Moriconi of Dearborn, Mich.; also many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held April 14 in Los Gatos. Friends are invited to call 408.356.0371 or 408.356.3311 for details. Donations may be made to a charity of choice, or to the park bench program at Oak Meadow Park in Los Gatos.
