Grant Sedgwick is the owner of The Studio, which specializes
in furniture for home offices and home entertainment.
NEW IN TOWN
The Studio, at 1 N. Santa Cruz Ave., is far from a typical furniture store.
Owner Grant Sedgwick describes it with the slogan "Fine furniture for technology in the home." He offers furniture and accessories for home entertainment and for the home office.
For the increasing number of people who work from their homes, The Studio can supply a variety of home workshops centered around computer technology. Some of the furniture may look like an ordinary cabinet or table, but a peek inside reveals a completely wired computer setup and monitor.
Using space compactly is a factor in most of the designs so that furniture and related equipment can fit modest-sized rooms. Furniture is already wired for electronic use.
Merchandise in the home-entertainment category includes home-theater setups with large screens of 35, 50 and 60 inches and Surround Sound from six speakers.
Styles for specially designed entertainment cabinets include Japanese, maple and California contemporary. There are books and small gifts, all related to home technology.
The 2,400-square-foot space in the La Cañada Building, for many years the location of the Corner Drug Store, was entirely redesigned by Los Gatos architect John Lien.
The Studio, 1 N. Santa Cruz Ave. Hours: Mon-Thu., 10 a.m.-9 p.m.; Fri. and Sat., 10 a.m.-10 p.m.; Sunday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. 395-7078.
