Los Gatos Weekly-TimesObituaryMargaret White Longtime Los Gatan Margaret Johnson White died Feb. 28 following a long illness. She was 90. Born Aug. 21, 1907, in Humboldt, Kan., White was active in school and community theater as a youth and majored in dramatic arts in college. She later embarked on an acting career and spent two seasons touring with repertory acting companies. At the beginning of the Great Depression, when many theaters closed, White became a teacher. White and her family moved from Peoria, Ill., to Los Gatos in 1943. White returned to college and became a speech pathologist. She worked as a speech therapist in Saratoga schools for 21 years. After retirement, she was active with the Montalvo Service Committee, the American Association of University Women, the History Club of Los Gatos and the Delta Kappa Gamma Honorary Teaching Sorority. She was predeceased by husband J. Arnold White. Survivors include daughter Sylvia White of Los Gatos; son Larry White of Evergreen, Colo; granddaughters Sarah White of Forestville, Calif., and Heidi Janzen of Cardiff, Calif.; and great-granddaughter Elizabeth Herbert of Berkeley.
