LG Pony Opener

Los Gatos Boys Baseball will host opening day ceremonies for the 1998 Pony League Baseball season on April 18 on the baseball diamond at Fisher Middle School.

Games are scheduled throughout the day at Fisher with opening ceremonies to be held from 1:45 to 3 p.m.

Sickler stabs gold

Joanna Sickler stabbed the gold medal in the women's under-19 epee competition at the Junior Pacific Coast Fencing Championships in Long Beach over the April 4-5 weekend.

Sickler, a senior at Los Gatos High who trains with The Fencing Center in San Jose, competed in the Division II National Championships in March and placed in the top 16 among women epee fencers.

Coaches Needed

Los Gatos is looking for a number of coaches for the 1998-99 school year. The Wildcats need coaches for wrestling, cross country, track, girls' water polo and swimming. Anyone qualified and interested should call Los Gatos Athletic Director Butch Cattolico at 354-2730.

Football Signups

The Los Gatos Pop Warner Football Association will hold football and cheerleading signups for the fall season on April 23, 6-9 p.m., at the Los Gatos High School Teen Center. Returning players can sign up on April 22, 6-9 p.m., at the Teen Center.

Youngsters ages 8-15 and living in Los Gatos, Saratoga, Campbell or Willow Glen are eligible. The registration fee is $195 for football players and $125 for cheerleaders. Youngsters signing up must provide a copy of their birth certificate, a 2x3 photo, a recent report card and a medical release.

The season begins on Aug. 1. For information, call 270-1443.
