LG police ask public for help with unsolved case

By Shari Kaplan

The Los Gatos Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in its investigation of two recent incidents.

Around 4:53 p.m. on April 1, a 20-year-old San Jose woman was walking through the Los Gatos Department of Motor Vehicles parking lot when a man called out to her. She did not hear what he said and proceeded toward her car. He then confronted her and asked for her phone number; she rebuffed him and he made some lewd comments. As she proceeded to try to get into her car, he grabbed her and fondled her.

She managed to run back into the DMV, where she called the police. She describes her attacker as a Hispanic male in his 20s who said his name was Jesús. He is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall with a slender build, dark eyes, a mustache and dark, thick hair worn in a crewcut. He was last seen wearing a dirty white T-shirt and blue cutoff shorts. The victim also noticed tattoos on her attacker's right wrist and arm.

"If anyone approaches you or makes you feel uncomfortable, go back to where you came from and call the police; don't try to get back to your car," advises LGPD Sgt. Tricia Friedrich.

At 7:30 p.m. on April 8, a 10-year-old girl was riding her skateboard in the vicinity of More Avenue and Newville Drive in Los Gatos. A man in a black Chevrolet El Camino drove up, opened the passenger-side door of the car and attempted to lure the girl into his car with a bribe of candy.

The girl's older brother rode up on his skateboard at that moment, and the man drove away and did not return. He is described as a white male in his mid-30s who spoke with an English accent. He is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, approximately 150 pounds with brown hair. He was last seen wearing a black hat, black T-shirt and sunglasses.

Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call the LGPD at 354-8600.
