    Business invited to big shindig

    The California Cafe will be the setting for A Community Celebration on April 19, from 5 to 7 p.m.

    The event, sponsored by the Silicon Valley Association of Realtors, the Town of Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce and several real estate companies, is an opportunity for members of the business community to mingle and to meet the mayor of Los Gatos, Steve Blanton, who also serves as government affairs director for the Silicon Valley Association of Realtors.

    Young and old will celebrate Arbor Day

    Los Gatos will hold two Arbor Day ceremonies celebrating both the holiday and the 20th consecutive year Los Gatos has been named "Tree City USA."

    On April 26, at 9:30 a.m., approximately 25 seniors from Los Gatos Meadows will walk to the Town Plaza to plant trees and talk about the environment as part of the Senior Arbor Day/ Beautification ceremony.

    On Arbor Day, April 28, students from local schools will attend a tree planting at Oak Meadow Park at 11 a.m., and vice-mayor Joe Pirzynski will receive the "Tree City U.S.A." award from the Department of Forestry. At 2 p.m., a large oak will be planted at Hillbrook Park. Call Parks and Public Works at 408.399.5770 for more information.
