Whimsical performer Linda Arnold and friends will be onstage May 1 at the Children's Fantasy Faire to be held on the LGHS front lawn.
Fantasy Faire comes to LGHS
It might not involve the traditional May pole, but everything else about the 11th annual Children's Fantasy Faire, May 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the Los Gatos High School front lawn, is in keeping with the May Day tradition of fun and revelry.
The festival, a benefit for the Los Gatos Parent Nursery School, includes carnival-style games designed especially for small children, in which everyone wins something. The games reflect some of the principles of the LGPNS, including using play to teach children problem-solving and build their self-esteem.
Children of all ages and their families will enjoy crafts, 4-H animals, food and drinks, a raffle and entertainment, including the Stanford Marching Band, West Valley Gymnastics, Studio Kicks, Suzuki Violins, San Jose Children's Musical Theater Neighborhood Kids and Leslie Sokol's Dancing Kids.
The headline entertainer is singer/songwriter/musician Linda Arnold, who performs at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the LGHS Prentiss-Brown Auditorium. Arnold's new show for 1999, called Circus Magic, consists of music, dancing, juggling, colorful costumes and imaginative activities. She will be joined by performing teddy bears and dogs, Tyrone the Flying Dinosaur and professional clowns Rock Serum and Sandy Rechenmacher, founders of Clown Clubhouse, a program that teaches public-school students circus skills and related arts and crafts.
Admission to the Fantasy Faire is free; Linda Arnold show tickets are $5 each; with children two and under free. Tickets are available at the LGPNS, 15 Lyndon Ave., or at the Wooden Horse Toy Store, 798 Blossom Hill Road. For more information, call 354-1433.
