Students at Daves Avenue School have a message for Los Gatos and Monte Sereno voters who went to the polls last week and approved the parcel tax renewal for Los Gatos Union School District: Thanks! Voters agreed to continue paying the tax for another four years and to up the ante from $180 to $250 per parcel per year. The thumbs-up vote meant, among other things, that 30 certificated employees who received pink slips last month can tear them up. By state law, the district was obligated to give notice to employees whose jobs would end if the tax did not pass. Voters approved Measure A--which required a 2/3 majority--by 80.3 percent.
