      Police warn drivers

In the wake of two traffic accidents involving children in one week's time, Los Gatos police are reminding drivers to be on the lookout for children and to follow the 25 mph school-zone speed limit when driving past or near schools. Parents are also reminded to teach children the proper street safety rules.

At 2:30 p.m. on March 27, police say, a 7-year-old Blossom Hill School student was attempting to run across Cherry Blossom Lane to get to her parents' car when she was struck by a vehicle. She was treated at the hospital for a broken leg and various abrasions.

On April 1 at 8:10 a.m., a 12-year-old Fisher Middle School student was riding his bicycle behind a friend's bicycle on the portion of Los Gatos Boulevard across from Van Meter School. A vehicle turning right into a private driveway stopped to let the first bicyclist pass, but did not see 12-year-old boy, according to police.

The boy was treated at the hospital for abrasions, bumps, bruises and a possible broken wrist.
