Between the cold, sluggish days of winter and the hot, sluggish days of summer lies this energetic season, when everyone and every group seems to be springing into action with special events.
Perhaps because of the approaching end of the school year, many events are centered on young people. For example, CASA's annual fashion show, The Look of Los Gatos, is set for April 27, with Los Gatos High School students strutting their stuff to benefit CASA and the Teen Counseling Center. The affair takes place in the school's auditorium; for ticket prices and info, call 354-7648.
Another annual event, the Children's Art Show, takes place April 28 through May 2 in the cafeteria of Fisher Middle School. This show, sponsored by the Art Docents of Los Gatos, is a great way to check out the creations of Los Gatos' youngest up-and-coming artists--every student in kindergarten through eighth grade participates. Call 358-1185 for viewing times.
Two local preschools have chosen the first weekend in May for their fundraising festivals. On May 3, check out the Children's Fantasy Faire to support the Los Gatos Parent Nursery School or visit the Charmer Preschool Family Fest to benefit that school. Both events include carnival games, food, drinks and a variety of entertainment . Call 354-1433 for info on the Fantasy Faire or 378-7805 for the Family Fest. Suffering succotash--what a lot of "F"s for a cat to say!
Speaking of suffering, instead of beginning a panicky workout regimen to drop pounds this spring for the upcoming swimsuits-and-shorts season, try a creative and fun alternative like the country line-dancing class offered by our neighbors at the Saratoga Community Center. Cowboy hats and boots aren't required, and neither are partners--just show up and enjoy music and movement. Classes begin April 29; call 868-1248 for info on prices and times.
