There will be a cornucopia of entertainment on the front lawn of Los Gatos High School on May 4 when the Los Gatos Parent Nursery School presents its Children's Fantasy Faire, featuring performers from the New Pickle Family Circus in a production titled "Pickle Slices."
Showtimes for the circus acts will be 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
In addition to the clowns and acrobats, the seventh annual fair will offer a "midway" with a variety of food and drinks, game booths, crafts, a 4-H petting zoo, live stage shows and children's concerts, and raffle drawings including a grand-prize Disneyland trip.
An abundance of free entertainment includes the Stanford Marching Band, two bluegrass bands, folk singer Lisa Atkinson, Wesley Sokol's Dance Kids, Studio Kicks Karate, West Valley Gymnastics Hot Shots, storytellers, and the San Jose Children's Musical Theater.
Performance acts from the New Pickle Family Circus will feature dancing, acrobats, comedy, juggling, original jazz music and other highlights from the popular one-ring show. Performers are directed by dancer-choreographer Tandy Beal and trained by Chinese acrobat Lu Yi.
Game booths are all designed for younger children, with everybody leaving a winner. Crafts, including such favorites as face painting, are also aimed at the preschool set. But there will be attractions for older brothers and sisters, too.
Admission to the Fantasy Faire is free, with food, drink and games sold at the midway. Tickets are $5 and are available at the Wooden Horse, 798 Blossom Hill Rd., or by calling the Los Gatos Parent Nursery School, 354-1433. Children under 2 are admitted free.
Proceeds from the Fantasy Faire go to pay for school equipment and improvements.
Organized in 1946, the school is a cooperative preschool run by parents and taught by state-accredited teachers. It operates under auspices of the Los Gatos-Saratoga Department of Adult Education and Recreation.
