Kapp to toss out first pitch

Former Super Bowl quarterback Joe Kapp will throw out the first pitch when the Los Gatos Little League hosts opening-day ceremonies on April 27.

Kapp, who starred for the Minnesota Vikings as a professional quarterback, will be the headliner when ceremonies begin at 9 a.m. at the major division field at Blossom Hill Park.

Banners will be presented by tournament championship teams from a year ago. Los Gatos won District 12's 11-year-old all-star tournament, and the Pirates won the
district Tournament of Champions.

The defending champion Pirates will play the first game following ceremonies on Saturday. Game time is 11:15 a.m.

Ceremonies will include the ceremonial first pitch by Kapp, who coached at UC-Berkeley where he had starred as a collegian, along with a hit-a-thon, pictures, drawings for special prizes and much more. Then will also be a barbecue lunch offered from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

All proceeds from opening-day activities benefit the Los Gatos Little League.
