Graffiti painters needed for tagging coverup work
In a tribute to Tom Sawyer, the Santa Clara County Parks and Recreation Department last week announced an opportunity to whitewash over graffiti on public structures.
The activity is free, but participants must be at least 16 years old.
Painters will cover up tags on structures in Vasona Lake County Park and along the Los Gatos Creek Trail. The department will provide paint, brushes and training tips to friendly volunteers who would like to spend at least one or two hours a month spreading paint over graffiti. For more information or to apply, call volunteer coordinator Chris Crockett at 354-6583.

San Francisco police stopped Newman six days after the murder, when they caught him driving Eberle's car.
Newman's victim obtained a restraining order against him a week before the murder. He had previously been arrested for assaulting her and threatening to kill her.
Los Gatos Creek Bridge purchase
has been delayed
The Los Gatos Town Council put off until its May 6 meeting the decision of whether to purchase a new bridge for Los Gatos Creek Trail.
The prefabricated, 130-foot-by-10-foot truss bridge would cost about $160,000 altogether and would be installed about 150 feet north of Lark Avenue.
Santa Clara County has already agreed to pay $112,117 of the cost.
