Chris Park and Jeremy Kane had quite a week. And because of it, so did the Los Gatos boys' swimming team.
The Wildcats cruised to a tight 96-87 league win over Palo Alto and backed that up with a team fifth at the eight-team invitational meet at Lynbrook last week.
Park and Kane were each double winners for Gatos in the win over Paly. The victory left the Cats 5-1 in the De Anza Division of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League and 6-2 for the year.
Park took the 200-yard freestyle in 1:47.82 and the 100 free in 50.36, and Kane was tops in the 200 individual medley in 1:59.27 and the 500 free in 4:43.33.
The two teamed with Lance Campbell and John Etheridge for a win in the 400 free relay in 3:27.84, and with James Rego and Chris Herr for a first in the 200 free relay in 1:33.70.
Campbell added a win in the 50 free in 23.26 and Herr took the 100 butterfly in 59.38. Joe Kocal was the diving winner with 246.20 points.
Park came back with a pair of wins at the Lynbrook invitational. Park took the 50 free in 21.84 and the 100 free in 47.89. Kane was first in the 500 free in 4:34.60 and second in the 200 in 1:43.97.
The two got together with Campbell and Herr for a win in the 200 free relay in 1:30.57, and Gatos also was third in the 400 free relay.
Golf teams splits
Senior Hamilton Souther fired a two-over par 36 to lead the Los Gatos golf team to a 211-222 win over Saratoga at the Saratoga Country Club.
The win helped Gatos finish the week with a split. The Cats had opened the week by losing 223-230 to Palo Alto at the Sharon Heights Country Club.
Souther's 36 sparked the Cats to the win over the Falcons. Sophomore Matt Cuevas finished at 42 with freshman Mike Vivona and soph Sean McIntyre each carding a 44. Junior Ramien Ebadypour came in at 45.
Souther fired a four-over 40 and Ebadypour a 46, but Gatos lost to Paly. Vivona finished at 47, McIntyre at 48 and Cuevas at 49.
Gatos volleyball
The Los Gatos boys' volleyball team two-timed Mitty to push its league record to 12-0.
The Wildcats handled the Monarchs 15-5, 15-7, 15-3 and then beat Mitty 15-2, 15-8, 15-9 to remain unbeaten in the West Catholic Athletic League.
The Cats are 24-1 for the year.
Sands wins
Chris Sands nailed a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles, but the Los Gatos tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Saratoga.
