Bocce ball club gets good review

Campo di Bocce, the University Avenue bocce ball club and restaurant, received a pat on the back from the Town Council April 17, for being good neighbors over the last year.

The council accepted a one-year review of the conditional-use permit it gave to Campo di Bocce in September 1999. Another review will be done at the same time next year.

    Jesuits expansion finally approved

The California Province of the Society of Jesus (The Novitiate) received its long-sought approval of a plan to add a second story to an existing office building.

The council approved the April 17 resolution, amending the General Plan to change the zoning from hillside residential to resource conservation. The Novitiate has agreed to dedicate a portion of the property as open space.

    Outstanding seniors to be recognized

The Terraces of Los Gatos and the Los Gatos Weekly Times will jointly honor local senior citizens who made outstanding contributions to the community. Anyone 65 or older and a resident of Los Gatos or Monte Sereno is eligible.

A committee of community leaders and sponsor representatives will select the award winner. The Senior of Distinction will be honored at a reception May 31, at The Terraces.

Nomination forms are available at Town Hall, the Los Gatos Weekly-Times, The Terraces, the Neighborhood Center, Whole Foods or the Monte Sereno City Hall. Contact Pam Bancroft at 408.356.1006 for information. Deadline for nominations is May 9.
