Montalvo hosts Olympiad of the Arts

Silicon Valley Open Studios

    The Prowler

It seems to the Prowler that the Los Gatos Museum Association is having a field day this May with all the exhibits it has going up and down! So would that make May a "field month" instead?

This week only, the Los Gatos Museum of Art and Natural History, at 4 Tait Ave., is filled with a mixed-media exhibit of artwork from Saratoga High School students. Readers may recall that previously the museum had shown the works of Los Gatos High School students in the annual High School Art Show.

Like a cat chasing a mouse, a new show follows close on the heels of this Saratoga interlude--the annual Open Juried Art Show, jointly sponsored by the LGMA and Los Gatos Art Association. It runs May 4 through 28, and includes juried works in all mediums from local as well as nonlocal artists. Don't miss the reception, which takes place May 7, from 1 to 4 p.m.!

The Forbes Mill Regional History Museum, taking a brief break from the theme of its moniker, is hosting the annual Los Gatos Children's Art Show now through May 7. Creative small fry from many town schools have contributed to this always refreshing show! The reception--for kids and grown-ups alike--is on April 30, from 1 to 4 p.m. For more info on all these happenings at the Tait and Forbes, call 408.354.2646 or 408.395.7375.

Since the Prowler is on another art-related roll, here's one last item: while lapping some milk-cooled java at the Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Company on 101 W. Main St., this cat noticed interesting photographs by one Dennis Halkides on the walls. Through May 28, visitors can check out the Northern Californian's black-and-white and color images of landscapes from throughout the world.
