Senior of Distinction sought

The Terraces and the Los Gatos Weekly-Times are seeking nominations for this year's Seniors of Distinction award. The winner will be honored at a reception and awards ceremony May 22 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at The Terraces.

This is the second year the newspaper and The Terraces have teamed up to honor someone 65 or older in Los Gatos or Monte Sereno who is deserving of special recognition.

"The judges intentionally have not been very specific about the types of achievements deserving of recognition," Pam Bancroft, community services manager for The Terraces, says. "The feeling was that those who do the nominating should make the case for their nominee, whether their contributions have been in work, community activities or volunteerism."

Last year, the honor went to Knowlton Shore, who has dedicated untold hours to youth activities and parks and trails cleanup and maintenance in Los Gatos.

A panel of judges from the community will review the nominations and select the winner.

Nomination deadline is Thursday, May 7, at 5 p.m. Mail, deliver or fax nomination form to Pamela Bancroft, 800 Blossom Hill Road, Los Gatos, 95032. Phone 356-1006 or fax 356-9647.

Nomination forms are available at the Weelkly-Times office, the Neighborhood Center, Town Hall, Whole Foods, the Town Chamber of Commerce (located in the Bank of America building) and The Terraces.
