Event benefits Meals on Wheels

The 12th annual Tortoise and Hare 10K Run and 5K Walk, sponsored by the Los Gatos Kiwanis Club and the Health Trust, is set for May 3 with a course that includes downtown Los Gatos, Lake Vasona County Park and the Los Gatos Creek Trail.

The event raises funds to help Meals on Wheels cover costs not financed by government subsidy, such as holiday and weekend meals and meals for clients who do not qualify for funding.

The Tortoise and Hare race, expected to draw more than 1,600 athletes, includes both corporate and wheelchair divisions in both its 10K run and 5K walk. There is also a children's race, as well as the "Bunny Hop" obstacle course. Following the competition is a post-race fitness fair with live entertainment, refreshments, prize giveaways and promotions from health and athletic product suppliers.
