U.S. bocce tourney in Los Gatos

Campo di Bocce, Los Gatos' own bocce ball courts, located at 565 University Ave., is this year's host for the annual U.S. Bocce Championships, which take place May 5-12.

More than 500 bocce ball players from throughout the country will gather in Los Gatos to participate in the sport's only nationally recognized event. Rules and scoring follow U.S. Bocce Federation protocol.

The championship, co-chaired by Benjamin Musolf and John Ross, comprises several different divisions: under-25 open competition, men's and women's volo competition, team punto and team raffa. The event also includes a welcoming dinner and closing ceremonies.

Spectators are welcome, as are volunteers. For additional information, call 408.395.7650.
