14th Children's Fantasy Faire will blend family fun with fundraising

The 14th annual Children's Fantasy Faire, sponsored by the Los Gatos Parent Nursery School, will be May 4, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., on the front lawn of Los Gatos High School.

One of the highlights of the family-friendly festival is a carnival-style midway with games, prizes, arts and crafts activities, and vendors selling foods, drinks and treats. Ongoing live entertainment takes place throughout the day on the Dragon Stage. For parents, the faire includes a raffle and silent auction, both of which offer goods and services from merchants throughout the Bay Area.

One of the entertainers is Joanie Bartels, an award-winning performer in the children's entertainment field. Other entertainers include The Stanford Band and Gerald Joseph the Magician.

Los Gatos Parent Nursery School, a nonprofit cooperative preschool in operation since 1946, uses festival proceeds for financial assistance programs and reduced tuition. The school is run and taught by parents, under the auspices of the Los Gatos-Saratoga Department of Community Education and Recreation and the Adult Education Division of the Los Gatos-Saratoga Joint Union High School District.

Admission to the Children's Fantasy Faire is free. Tickets for Bartels' shows at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. are $5 each. Tickets are available at the Los Gatos Parent Nursery School, 15 Lyndon Ave., or at the Wooden Horse Toy Store, 798 Blossom Hill Rd.
