Council will discuss Daves intersection
At the May 6 Los Gatos Town Council meeting, council members will review the conceptual design for a traffic light at the intersection of Winchester Boulevard and Daves Avenue. Concerns for children walking to Daves Avenue School led to a consultant's study, which recommended the installation of a stoplight. Monte Sereno, which is financing half of the project, approved the designs on April 16, but with an addendum to eliminate one northbound lane on Winchester in the future. The meeting will start at 7 p.m. at the Los Gatos Town Council Chambers, 110 E. Main St.
School planting trees as tribute to victims
Los Gatos High School will remember graduates Todd Beamer (class of 1987) and Mark Bingham (class of 1988), who died aboard Flight 93 on Sept. 11, by planting two trees on its campus. At the tree planting ceremony, there will be a short presentation, which will include the introduction of both Beamer's and Bingham's families and friends.
The ceremony will take place during the high school's lunch hour, shortly after 11:30 a.m. The trees will be planted in front of the school, next to the sign board on E. Main Street.
