    X-Game Trials

    Professional skateboaders Donovan Dresti and Rich Cooley, both of Los Gatos, left town last Thursday to compete in the X-Games Trials near Dallas, Texas.

    Golf tournament

    The Los Gatos Little League Golf Tournament, a fundraiser for the local league, will be held on May 10 at the Summit Pointe Golf Club in Milpitas.

    The 18-hole scramble, best-ball tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m., following registration from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The entry fee of $175 includes golf cart, range balls, lunch and beverages, tee prizes and a dinner buffet. There will be prizes for lowest score, longest drive and closest to the pin.

    Cat's Hill

    The 28th annual Cat's Hill Criterium, a bicycle race held on the streets of downtown Los Gatos, is coming up May 11.

    More than 400 amateur riders and 100 professionals will compete in a number of different races as they speed down Tait, Bayview, Nicholson and Bachman streets, and also make the famous climb up the steep Nicholson hill--Cat's Hill.

    A portion of the proceeds from the race will benefit the Los Gatos Elementary Educational Foundation.

    Youth soccer

    The Los Gatos United Soccer League will hold sign-ups for boys and girls ages 5-16 interested in playing in the 2002 fall season on May 2, 6:30-9 p.m., in the cafeteria at Fisher Middle School.

    Players must provide a copy of a birth certificate and a registration check at the registration.

    Practice begins Sept. 2 and games run from Sept. 14 through Nov. 17. For more information, call 408.535.8770, ext. 3.

    Annual Trail Run

    The second annual San Juan Bautista de Anza Trail 8K Run will be held May 5, 8:30 a.m. Race day registration will be held at San Juan School in San Juan Bautista. For more information, call the race hotline at 408.683.4683 or visit www.allsport.com.
