Membership tickets for the 1996-97 season of Los Gatos Community Concerts are now available, the concert association announced.
Four concert dates have been confirmed for next season, beginning with a Sept. 29 concert by Banjomania, a group of five banjo players who have performed at venues ranging from the Grand Old Opry to Carnegie Hall.
On Jan. 12, 1997, there will be a concert by Bridget Hooks, a young American soprano who has appeared with the Cleveland Orchestra, the National Symphony and the San Francisco Symphony, as well as at the Lincoln and Kennedy Centers
All concerts will be at the high school, at 2:30 p.m. Sundays, except for a Feb. 16 concert at Los Gatos United Methodist Church. That concert features an acclaimed young cellist, Zvi Plesser, 1985 first-prize winner in an international competition at Kennedy Center.
The final concert of the new season, on April 20, 1997, will present ragtime piano specialist Max Morath with his turn-of-the-century music. Morath's ragtime show was one of the spurs to a revival of ragtime in recent years.
Ticket prices for the four concerts have had to be raised by $3.
"In order to offer the finest programming available, we have spent 50 percent more for the new season than last," said Norman A. Stoner, Los Gatos Community Concert Association president. Student fees will remain unchanged.
Memberships received by June 1 will be $38 for adults; $33 for seniors 65 and over. Students through high school are $10. A family plan (two adults plus any number of students) is $78.
After June 1, adult tickets, if available, will be $43.
Checks for renewals or new memberships should be mailed to the Los Gatos Community Concert Association, P. O. Box 1116, Los Gatos, 95031.
One concert at Los Gatos High School remains in the current season: guitarist Terrence Farrell on May 12.
