Local teenagers perform with California Youth Symphony
The award-winning California Youth Symphony, conducted by Maestro Leo Eylar, will perform two spring concerts this month: May 13, at 2:30 p.m. at Flint Center in Cupertino, and May 20, at 2:30 p.m. at the San Mateo Performing Arts Center.
The program includes Overture and Bacchanale from Tannhauser by Wagner and Billy the Kid by Copland. Additionally, three orchestra members will perform three solo pieces: Violin Concerto No. 3 by Saint-Saens; Concerto for Piccolo and Orchestra by Vivaldi; and Concerto for Trombone and Orchestra by Gordon Jacob.
The symphony's 100 preteen and teenage musicians hail from 40 different schools throughout the Bay Area.
Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for students and senior citizens. For more information, or directions to the concert venues, call 650.325.6666, or visit www.cys.org on the Internet.
