    Vasona Light Rail website available

    Those following the progress of Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority's Vasona Light Rail project may check up on the agency's new website at www.vta.org/vasona.

    The site features project maps, budgets and timetables, as well as environmental documents, photographs and links to other local and regional transportation agencies.

    The Vasona project is a 6.8 mile extension to VTA's present 28.6 light rail system. Eleven new stations will be added, including one in Los Gatos off Highway 85.

    County fair offers temporary jobs

    High school and college students, as well as anyone tired of the stress of high tech are invited to apply for a number of part-time positions at this year's Santa Clara County Fair.

    Fair organizers need parking attendants, admissions ushers, exhibit monitors and more. Applicants should come to the Fairgrounds at 344 Tully Road in San Jose with proof of identity and be ready to fill out forms. Call 408.494.3100.

    Free hearing loss screening

    One of 10 Americans struggles with some form of hearing loss. By age 65, one of three people has a hearing loss.

    As part of the Better Speech and Hearing Month, Self-Help for Hard of Hearing People Inc. (SHHH) is coordinating free screenings with local professional health clinics. The event takes place on May 6, from 10 a.m. to noon, and participants will be advised to obtain follow-up testing if it is necessary. Los Gatos' participating clinic is Los Gatos Audiology, 430 Monterey Ave., Suite 3. Call 408.354.5253 for more information.
