Local students make Dean's list
Elizabeth Newham of Los Gatos and Garrett Snyder of Monte Sereno were recently named to UC-Santa Barbara's winter quarter Dean's honors list. The two had to maintain a grade-point average of at least 3.75 on 12 or more units to qualify for the list.
Search for college tutors online
Those looking for college tutors to help their K-12th graders can now find help via the World Wide Web. The Santa Clara County Office of Education in collaboration with the California Department of Education have developed a website that allows schools to go online and find the nearest college or university tutoring program to serve their students.
The website can be found at http://www. caltutor.org.
Los Gatan wins Montalvo award
David Hembry of Los Gatos High School was recently selected as a winner in Villa Montalvo's Fourteenth Annual Young Writers' Competition.
His untitled poem won second place, and he was among 12 winners selected out of 82 poetry and prose entries from 11th and 12th graders in Santa Clara County.
Hembry was honored at a special reading and awards ceremony on Sunday April 11.
