Los Gatos Weekly-TimesGold Award: Anna Arnaudo Girl Scout earns Gold AwardLos Gatos High School senior Anna Marie Arnaudo, a longtime Girl Scout, will receive the Gold Award--Girl Scouting's highest honor--at the Santa Clara County Girl Scouts' annual awards ceremony on May 17 at Foothill College. The Gold Award is the equivalent of the Eagle Scout Award in Boy Scouts. Arnaudo's project, called "The Wings Program," involved writing a training manual, recruiting and training counselors and working at Come Fly With Us, the Girl Scouts' camp for disabled and able-bodied girls. When she was 14, Arnaudo discovered that the camp was closing down and began a movement to reinstate it. Her advocacy paid off. In addition to her efforts on behalf of Come Fly With Us, Arnaudo has also coached gymnastics for the Special Olympics, and she has always been interested in working with disabled young people, according to her parents, Rose and Donald Arnaudo of Monte Sereno. Arnaudo is an honor student at LGHS and will graduate this June. She plans to pursue a career in neurobiology.
