Los Gatos Weekly-TimesObituaryBill RhoadsFormer Los Gatos resident Bill Rhoads, who had been residing in Magalia, Calif., died Jan. 6, 1998. Born Aug. 21, 1930, in Hot Springs, S.D., his family moved to Los Gatos while he was still a youth. A graduate of Los Gatos High School, Rhoads served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, the same war in which his brother Bob was killed. For 35 years, Rhoads worked as a carpenter, his last job being with Westinghouse in Sunnyvale. He enjoyed woodworking and was a member of the American Legion and the Paradise Elks Lodge. A former Eagle Scout, he was also active in Boy Scouting as an adult. He and his wife, Evelyn, moved to Magalia, in the Paradise region, about seven years ago. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Evelyn Rhoads, of Magalia; son Gregory Hamilton of Morgan Hill; daughters Virginia Montsch of Lake Tahoe, Janel Seavers of San Jose and Nancy Iob of San Jose; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sister Shirley Cantu of Los Gatos. Memorial services have been held, with interment at Los Gatos Memorial Park. Donations may be made to the American Lung Association of Superior California, 2732 Cohasset Road, Chico, 95973.
